Big Kids @ Alton Towers!

Well last weekend on Sunday... after a huge night out.... all feeling a little worse for wear .... we decided that heading to ride roller coasters at Alton Towers was a fab idea! I know crazy!
Anyway after one defecter (Paula Bayliss... not able to get out of bed due to her hangover! You have been named and shamed - haha) we took off at 7am to Stoke Upon Trent in Darbyshire... Alton Towers is a big amusement park that is built around an old castle that is undergoing restoration! As Jase put it possibly the least tacky amusement parks visited to date!

Anyway upon arrival we headed straight to the rides, I was still feeling the need to maybe just take photos and hold jackets... The first stop was the bumper boats - the boys headed out and quickly had the young girl working there screaming at them for a number of offences... apparently standing up in the boat to grab gofl balls which you have decided to play 'boat polo' with is not acceptable! The man in charge though thought they were pretty hilarious although secretly I think he was waiting for one of them to fall into the manky water!

Next we were onto the speed rides, with names like Nemesis, Air, Oblivion and Rita: Queen of Speed... Some of the rides were pretty full on and very well thought out! Kind of made Rainbows End look like a local community playground... My favorite of the day was Rita - very fast and it was late afternoon so I was finally up for it! The boys fave was Oblivion which does a big drop - like the tower of terror - but face first and it goes underground.... sposed to be pretty scary - cant say I was that keen!
The queues were pretty horrific but we had a fast track pass for some of the rides which was worth it for those big ones! Some of the queues were about 60 - 90mins long.... madness! We were all keen to do the Log flume until we saw how wet everyone was... I know a bit lame but it was way to cold to get wet and people were soaked! Even with the big heaters that you can stand inside to dry out werent going to cut it!
Well after many more little rides and Jase winning the side show Bob teddy by climbing the twisty ladder we headed back to Londontown! Long day but very cool!
