No Victory in Valencia..... Bugger!

After stopping for a swim in the Med at Cambrills we carried on down the coast and decided to stop for the night at Peniscola - this place is the best.... quite possibly our favourite place in Spain (so far...), The beach stretches for 5km and has a large church and castle type compound at the end of the beach, our hotel was right on the beach! We could open our window and hang out over the ocean was amazing... We headed out that night for dinner and a couple of drinks - we found a bar on the beach that was crowded with people watching a bullfight in Pamps, so we sat down and enjoyed plenty of San Miguel and tapa's! We carried on down the beach and essentially did a pub crawl... the night ended in San Miguel, Pinacoldas and body art!

The next day we were off to Valencia, we stayed near the America's Cup Port in a very nice hotel... We had to make the pilgrimage to the port to see the AC setup, it was very very quiet! Only a week after it was all over and the place was deserted! Most of the team shops were still open, Team NZ was noticeably absent - they appeared to have packed up and taken off pretty quick! Tried to find dad a shirt to no avail - thought about getting him an Alinghi one but couldnt bring myself to betray the nation by purchasing and knew that it would never see light of day in NZ!

The next day in we headed to the beach and proceeded to bake in the Spanish sun... glorious! we all left with tans that people would pay a fortune for - haha! We finished of our last night in Spain by going for a wander through the Oceanarium - this complex is an amazing compilation of buildings and pools... as we went through we spotted a stage set up over one of the water pools, we asked what was going on and there was a free Flamenco Opera on... so we had to partake! We queued for ages but managed to get front row seats and sat enthralled for about an hour and a half - the dancers were incredible!

The next day was home time... we managed to get a couple of hours in on the beach and a whole lot redder before we hit the airport and flew back to wet rainy London!
