Well we have definitely got the timer sussed on our camera now and gave it a bit of a work out on our trip to Wales! Shane and I spent last weekend in Mumbles, Swansea which is on the South Coast of Wales. We booked into a little hotel on the waterfront and headed over on the Friday night. The room was very cute with a little table and chairs in the big bay window with a single red rose for our romantic weekend away... the ajoining room had bunk beds in it for those people that bring the kids on the weekend away... judging on the ajoining room I think they must have a high percentage of Catholic families stay...

Anyway we spent our first night rugged up because it was incredibly cold outside, the next day we headed around the coast and stopped at Langlands Bay. We left the car here and walked for a couple of miles around the coast to Caswell Bay and back. This was a great walk and just what a slightly homesick Renae needed... Wales is definitely good for that - we could have been on any NZ beach, with rolling green hills (even plenty of gorse), a rugged coastline and heaps of sheep! When we got to Caswell Bay we stopped to watch the Surfers for a while. These guys and girls were very keen! It was freezing and we had many layers on but these guys seemed pretty happy in the water - mad!

We walked back to Langlands Bay and picked up the car then headed further around the coast to Rhossilini Bay. This is one of the more famous bays on the Gower coast. We walked out to Worms head which is a headland that can be accessed at low tide. This was a really interesting little walk with heaps of sheep (well we are in Wales), fisherman entrneched at their personal spot X's, and the coast guard sitting in watch to make sure noone tries to cross to Worm Head outside of the designated times... Again this beach had mad buggers out their surfing among the icebergs (figuratively speaking). We headed back to the warmth and comfort of the pub there and had some lunch and a drink before getting back in the car and driving to the Three Cliffs. I tell you nature bunnies we were! By this stage I was an icicle so we didnt get out of the car but we drove along the cliff road and had a nosey at the countryside.

That afternoon we made our way back to Mumbles and went for a walk through the village... I did a small spot of shopping (I am sure no one is suprised at that) before we headed to the busiest store in the whole village - the ice cream parlour! Yep blimmin sub zero temperatures and everyone is lining up down the street for an ice cream! We figured that they must be pretty good so Shane and I stood in line to get ours as well .... The ice cream was fine but nothing that couldnt wait until summer! We headed out for dinner and a few drinks that night and then piled on all of the blankets from the dorm beds (bless those Catholic families for requiring so much bedding) to fend off the -7 degree temperature that it fell to that night...brrr!
Wales was great but freeeeeeezing!
